Hi there,

Can anyone offer some advice on the best code for my Latest News page on a site I’m working on.

I would like the Latest News page to have the same arrow icon per entry as the contacts and links pages so I’ve started to use an unordered list but wasnt sure how to get the actual news text to wrap round under the subject heading but not under the date and arrow icon (indented).

I wondered if this was a job for a table as opposed to css.

This is your influence because many months ago you told me to stop using tables so I did and havent looked back since.

So many thanks on three counts - css direction, the script and your css answer to this post - looking forward to the ie compatable version cos I'm still using ie.

Again, thanks to your site which I also really like I may soon switch to firefox.

Added your script which is great. Only one problem.

The logo for the hlf is wrapped by a div tag putting it outside the mainright tag.

The script needs to add these two tags together (mainright and hlf) to get the height. I would like the hlf logo always to appear at the bottom of the right column no matter how long it is.

Is there any easy way to do this. I tried margins but there fixed nature is not flexible enough.

Yeah, no probs.

That script is the only way I can see of making boxes like that the same height... Actually, I guess it could be done with background images, but it would be more difficult than the ones I'd normally use. You'd need to draw two boxes with the right width (the height could be quite small), then cut off the top and bottom and place them at the top and bottom of a container. Then if you took a slice of the middle, you could use that as a background-image of that container. Then you'd need to fiddle with the alignment to get everything straight. (Of course that would mean that the boxes themselves would have no border - it would just look like they did, which is all you need). It would be better than relying on script, but also more time-consuming and fiddly (though it might be a good idea - it's up to you).

You still use IE?!? Why? As a user, it seems like a kids toy compared with Firefox - especially when you install the right extensions in Firefox.

1 question, why did you use a span class for the date and a div class for the story?[/quote]Hmmm... it just seemed appropriate. Divs are for blocks of text or whatever while spans are for inline text. As the date is just a little piece of text, span seemed appropriate.

Now, I thought it was better to take the bottom-right image and put it in that div on the right, but thinking again, I guess your way's better, so I've just added the height of that div into the equation in the script... Unfortunately, right now, I'm having server problems, so I can't upload the files at the moment, but I'll do it as soon as possible and then I think everything will be good.

Many thanks this looks brilliant and thanks for amending the script (looks like +66).

I understand what you are saying with regard to the script as some users don't enable Javascript but the image thing is a little over my head and I'm not sure where to start on that one.

With regard to firefox can you help me with the extension setup e.g. whats best?
