formating string for output

HI all!

Can anybody tell me how can I format a string for output? Here is my problem:

I have a string in a database (mySql) that have more lines. How can I display this string in the html like it is in the database.

My string looks like:

“Here is first line.
Here is second line.
Here is third line.
etc…”

If I display it using ‘echo’ function it looks like that:

“Here is first line.Here is second line.Here is third line.etc…”

Can ‘printf’ function help me ? How ?
