A Webpage Builder: Good Idea?

Ok, so I am making a webpage builder with JavaScript right now. But some tell me it is a pointless task, and a waste of time. That I shouldn’t make a webpage builder since there are already plenty out there, and that they will be better than mine.

I just want to know, is this really a waste of time?

I am not planning on charging to use it or anything. I am making it because I can, and it is something to fill my free time. And I personally think it’s rather good. It is basically like geocities editor I guess. Only mine has less features, but my editor/builder does allow the user to show a list of properties for an object and change it, which I do not geocities has.

But I’m not trying to compete. I just am making a webpage builder for the public. Simple, but effective and very good(in my POV).

@invertedpandaJun 25.2005 — Doing open source projects is a great way to build a resume. I'd say go for it - regardless if people use it or not. ?
