Migrating from ColdFusion…

Alright, so I’m moving somebody else’s site from one server to another server. The original server had ColdFusion and the site is largely made up with that scripting language that I know close to nothing about. Also there’s a big ol’ database I’m unfamiliar with the layout of. Now, the new server does not have ColdFusion; and SO… I need to somehow get the site working more-or-less how it was before, by replacing the ColdFusion with PHP; but HOW do I make such a conversion… easily… quickly… is there some program out there that doesn’t take forever to learn that can import a file made with ColdFusion and export it in PHP; or anything? I’m very open to suggestions. This has gone a bit over my head.

@vi5inJun 15.2005 — You would most probably have to do it manually. Coldfusion's syntax is VERY different from PHP (tag-based vs. C-like). I don't think there's any software that does this.

@madddidleyJun 15.2005 — Why do people use coldfusion? Are there any benefits with coldfusion. To me it kind of seems like a waste of money.

built-in search engine (verity)

support for XML and a wide range of database management systems

java integration (converts cfm scripts to java binaries the first time a script is run, then caches the binary so that subsequent hits on the same page are faster)

allows for user-defined cfm tags
