Detecting a pixel’s color…

Hi, I was wondering if there was a way, whether it be javascript, css, php, svg, or whatever applicable language, to detect the color of a pixel on a screen. Or is there even a property or function that could help in accomplishing this?

Would it be possible for such a method to detect a pixel’s color of an image underneath another image, e.g. CSS z-indexing? Since one image would be on top of the other one, the pixel color would be of the image on top… is there a way to find out that pixel’s color for the image underneath?

I’m brainstorming an idea for a little project, so I’m trying to make sure it is do-able. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

@A1ien51Jun 14.2005 — you would have to use a language like vb to get the pixel on the screen and that would not be a web app.

You would be able to pass an image back to the server and have the server side code look at the image.
