Archiving Forum

I’m currently in the process of setting up an archive for a forum I have with minimum code on the pages so that search engines are more likely to think that the content is the important stuff.

Now I’m trying to find out, in the regards of the index as to what Google in particular ranks pages on and what stops it. For example I read somewhere that if the content is on asp pages which it is, then the address will keep changing due to what page the content is on (?pagenum=5) as it moves down the list. Does this actually affect how search engines rank pages?

Incase anyone is interested:
link here. At the time of writing the page detail pages haven’t been properly set up yet so an error will occur if you click to view a post.

Hopefully this all makes sense! If not just ask and I’ll try and explain a bit more.
