Recommend a book, please?

Hi

As much as I love the convenience of visiting this site and posting a thread to ask for help, I can’t help but think I should take some time to learn CSS more thoroughly for myself. I’m not a professional web developer but it is something I’d like to explore as a part-time career and CSS is something that I see as being very important. I always have trouble with layouts and especially the dimensions and positioning of each item. For example, I can’t easily figure out how to make a nice looking site that will look reasonably nice on any monitor resolution without becoming impossible to read or untidy.

So, can anyone suggest a book that will help someone who has a good understanding of what CSS is and how it can be used, but just needs to be taught the intricacies of layout and give me plenty of knowledge to tackle most problems head on?

I first thought about getting a book at the bookstore, but I thought, why waste money when I can just learn on the internet? Then maybe after I learn all I can on the net, I will look through some books to brush up my skills.

You just have to have a mindset and say "Im gonna dedicate this day to learning CSS." I did and boy once I was done I knew alot of more things. I'd like to suggest this site, it helped me out alot, especially the "floatutorial." It also breaks down navigational bars really good as well.

And in case you do want to get a book, I would get Eric Meyer's book, that's the one that looked the best to me when I was looking through the endless books relating to web design. His second one looked like he gave alot of good advice on design as well.

That site looks like it will be useful, I may just get the Eric Meyer book as well as backup.
