Developing in foreign countries

Hi there,

Currently i’ve been a Web developer for 2 years in Montreal, Canada and i’m looking for a new challenge in a foreign country.

So i’m trying to find a place where there’s a lot of demand for junior programmers, for software or Web development. I also have strong database skills with SQL-Server and even Filemaker.

Anyone has suggestions? I’m willing to go almost anywhere on the planet, as long as it’s challenging. I thought about India but i heard they are looking for very high skilled programmers. I consider myself a junior coder.

Thanks!
Matt

@the_treeMay 26.2005 — Urm, surley as the web is of a world wide persuasion it doesn't matter where you or your client is anyway?

@Stephen_PhilbinMay 26.2005 — Exactly. If I didn't have a squelching turd for a heart, I'd almost certainly be based in somewhere like Thailand. You could do jobs for western clients and charge western world prices. You could live like a king! You could go to the corner shop with the equivelant of a quid, buy a pie and rebuild the entire community with the change! You could probably hire a PA for about £2 a week! ?

@StranieroMay 31.2005 — I knew a few people who were programming in Japan and making good cash.

I also built a site for a friend (for almost free) and got a bunch of offers from her friends for more paid work. It is a very "who you know" society and a lot of the work won't be advertised in the paper. (Though there is also plenty in the papers too.)

Tokyo is a great place to live too.

Heh, here, it's the most popular job-hunting site for both employers and applicants.

Hope you found what you wanted.

Take care,

Snitch.

LOL! That's certainly the impression of Thailand and prices. But the reality isn't quite the same. ?
