i have tested my site’s link popularity on a variety of online link populairty tools and i do not get an accurate reading. i can test on 1 tool and get 1 number and test on another tool and get a totally different number. how can this be and how can i get a true ball park figure in regards to link populairty? thank u

@RobRobRobSep 22.2006 — These days MSN and Yahoo are the best for checking backlinks. MSN shows the most , followed by Yahoo. Google only shows a tiny sample of backlinks and isn't really worth using for this purpose any more.

Yahoo now uses their Site Explorer:
