Internet Explorer 5 for Macintosh Woes

[url]www.spiraloz.com/unrelated/spiralozie5mac.jpg[/url]

I’m getting slightly screwed around with IE5 for Mac at the moment.

only my navigation bar, which are CSS rollovers using code from the folowing site:

[url]http://www.webcredible.co.uk/user-friendly-resources/css/rollover-buttons.shtml[/url]

here’s the actual page

stylesheet: [url]www.spiraloz.com/spiraloz.css[/url]

I can’t seem to find the exact issue that messes with the mac IE, is anyone else more experienced at IE5 for Mac issues?

I know you can cut out certain css tags from MacIE but I’ll be buggered if I know what I need to change.

cheers,

@Master00Jun 09.2005 — [URL=http://www.tillc.com/spiralOz.htm]TRY THIS[/URL]

I am curious as to why you think it is neccessary to use 100x30 pixels (images/navup.gif) when you can get the same effect by using only 1x30 pixels with a repeator bg?

@sebconnauthorJun 09.2005 — Duly noted.

It was because I was still initially using an image tag and not background images, which made me have to overlap the text by using negative padding and margins, which made IE5Mac go batty.

Your solution worked like a charm, thanks heaps for that one.

@sebconnauthorJun 11.2005 — Just a note, when putting this list style menu inside a div, add

padding-left: 0;

to the #menu ID, otherwise it's indented in Mozilla browsers

@Master00Jun 11.2005 — Yes, that and setting the body margins / padding to 0.

Test it in Opera 6.02 on OS X because it may cause problems when nested inside of a div. IE 5 (Windows) will need an alternative style sheet with certain margin specifications to work properly. Other than that, its good to go and far more stable and sensible than what you had.

@Master00Jun 13.2005 — Just a note. Under services, *competant* is spelled *competent*. You mispelled it twice. Also, there is a gap in the word (off er). Just looks a bit funny if you are trying to reel in some business.

why can't IE for man just go away and die.[/QUOTE]

lol ! That's what I ask myself everytime I make a design... ?

But everytime, I manage to make it work in IE mac too, so...

Yeah, you're right, they should either drop it, or update it. It's not updated anymore, but in the first place, it was quite a good browser.

But still, you have some bugs that could have been fixed long ago.

Anyway, it's the browser used by at least 50% of the mac people, so it's worth making it work, even if it's painfull..

BTW, nice design. I like it.
