I am not sure if I am calling this the right thing, but, I am trying to do something specific using Javascript in a webpage. I have tried searching for this, but, have not yet found what I am looking for.
This webpage is a documentation help where I work, and requires me to input Phone, Name, and Ticket number along with troubleshooting steps taken to arrive at the end of the call.
What I want to do is capture the Phone number and paste it where ever I wish. What the form does right now, is after I am finished with most of the call, I click a button that highlights a section so I can copy and paste it somewhere else. I then type the ticket number into the proper field, hit refresh again so I can cut and paste notes into another system. This must be available to other applications using the same keypress, not just on the webpage.
Many systems we use require a phone number, and with the actions above cutting and pasting the phone field manually at the beginning of the call isn’t the best way to operate. Therefore, I would like to capture the phone field so I can say hit CTRL-??? or ALT-??? to paste the phone number at the cursor location.
