Background Image and Menus

Hello there,

I’m interested in the following site [url]http://www.silverstone-circuit.co.uk/[/url]

especially in the left hand menu and the interactive menus.

Had a look at the code and it looks like one table on top of another one with a z-index of 1.

Is this how you create this type of background to an interactive menu?

Also does anyone know the java script for the menus that pop out when the choice is covered.
