Finding Content

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right forum here for this question, but it seemed like the most reasonable… So, anyway, I’ve got my hosting, my css, html, and learning PHP, now all I need is some content. The trouble is is that I can’t seem to come up with anything. Yeah, I have a posse of EQ2 characters that I can link to, a message board, and I could post the occasional blog, but I really don’t have anything that anyone besides myself would be interested in. So I guess what I want to know is how did other people come up with a purpose and content for their site and if they have any tips for those of us lacking that vision?

Thanks for the read and any responses!

@the_treeApr 06.2005 — Why? It's a simple question but it's rarely asked often enough.

What's the point of your website?

If you wish to use it purely to express yourself then you could build your blog into it. (IIRC freepgs.com support the nessersary technologies). If you want people to learn from your site, then what do you want them to learn about?

Can you see what I'm getting at?

@cobaltauthorApr 06.2005 — I guess that's the whole thing, it doesn't really have a point. I really just want to practice and develop my meager web skills and try to put out something interesting at the same time. I've seen some great websites out there, some are quite simple, and think I'd like to do something like that, but what?

Since I can't find the "what", about all I seem to be left with is just to put together a bunch of random junk with no real cohesion that says, "Here I am, this is what I like and do and junk." Perhaps that would work, but I'd kind of like to do a little more with it than that, though. Does that make any sense?

@SnitchcatApr 07.2005 — Well, you seem to like the more technical side of things -- why not something along those lines?

Or, perhaps you could document the types of difficulties you encountered and your solutions while building your site?

Take care,

Snitch.

@cobaltauthorApr 07.2005 — That's not a bad idea, documenting the site's development. It may be the only really useful section of my site ?

This is what I am going to do for a near future site. Near future being before I die. ?

@Stephen_PhilbinApr 08.2005 — Why not just make a site for giving out stuff you've made? Like chategory for example .
