I’ve heard of virtual pc for macs. Is there something similar that allows pcs to have mac operating systems? Also, is there a way to have Linux and Windows installed on a pc? Any help would be hugely appreciated.
@PeOfEoMar 20.2005 — #[COLOR=deeppink]You can have windows and linux running on a pc at the same time. I am doing it right now. It is called a dual boot. You just need a windows and a linux partition.
my suggestion: keep the partitions on separate drives.
install windows first on the primary drive on the ide because windows likes to be on the c: drive. If it is in the secondary slot windows will end up saying I am the d: drive or the e: drive and that can be irritating when you want to move hard drives around because windows will suddenly not work.
After windows is installed then install a linux distro on hard drive 2. The linux boot loader will be configured during the install process, I have windows as my first option and then put in a 3 second count down (my boot loader has a nice gui, I am running mandrake w/ lilo).
When I turn on my system the linux boot loader runs and then from there I can boot into windows or linux.
You can also choose to mod the windows boot loader w/ bootcfg, but I really suggest against it... lilo and grub the linux boot loaders are much friendlier to use.
