I have not seen this explained here

I am setting up my own web server and i use this place to get html help for something i dont know. well here is a big one i dont know it well the same thing i am writeing in now forums.

I run a list of programs

  • Apache Web Server
    MySQL
    HLDS (halflife dedicated server)
    Microsoft XP professional SP2

    My server works fine everything is cool but i want to run a forum.
    my question is what do i do to create a forum i have searched and searced only to come empty handed everytime i run a search it comes up with php is that a part of forum? do i need that? is a forum HTML code?

    Any answers would be greatly appreciated

    No, a forum is not HTML coded, no applications are HTML coded because HTML is not a programming language.

    You need a server-side programming language, a database (and SQL to access/manipulate its data) and HTML/CSS for presentation. Unless you are an experienced programmer or have a huge interest in Software Development (and alot of confidance), I do not recommend you try to create a forum from scratch, but rather purchase a pre-made solution.

    Anyways i have a new problem i can't access my web server from an outside ip i have no problems within my network.

    I have 6 computers in the network and they all get the site but i use an outside computer it does not connect.

    same apps as b4-hlserver on my router the DMZ host is set to that ip address

    i tried port forwarding and it did not work. it works for my hlds but not apache.

    opps sorry this is in the wrong place; still again im sorry.

    I have figured out why phpbb did not work i needed php. now phpbb when i go to install is says that php does not support the database.

    any suggestions

    @alyssasdaddyauthorApr 25.2005 — ok lets see if someone can help me with this one i have many supicions but i can't figure out anything everything i have figured out fixed and it is working with in my internal network i can not get anything out side of my router to connect i will leave some attachments this time one will be apache config file and the other router status i do however notice one thing my subnet mask for WAN is 255.255.254.0 and internal subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 if someone can figure this out for me it will be greatly appreciated or even any suggestions.

    well i tried attaching files i guess i dont know how yet.

    I got everything to work properly now my web server is up and running

    My Problem: My ISP is blocking Port 80 and 8080

    My Solution: I changed to a port i know works i no longer have the game server so i use that port 27015
