Reply feature only work with one message

I am using DHTML to present a reply form on screen.
When there is ONE message on the screen, it works fine, when more than 1, it fails and cannot find a variable.

Example, go to [url]http://xxx.webagency.net[/url] (replace xxx with beta)
sign in as BS, password bs

Go to FORUMS in the main menu
Select the only FoRUM.

There are two threads, one
– Single Mesage Works (works fine!)
– These messages cannot be replied to

If you click on Reply below any of the messages, a form pops open.

There is a limit of 7000 characters.

As you type I have added code to limit the number of characters.

In the single message thread it works fine.

In the multiple it fails as soon as you type any text.

Can someone tell me WHY? I have been puzzling this one for …
