JavaScript Protocol

I was recently in my system deleting spyware, and accidently deleted the “JavaScript Protocol”

Now anything that requires a Javascript does not function. I checked to make sure that Javascript was enabled, and it is.

What should I do?

I didn’t catch the entire file name before deleting it. It is quite frustrating.

For instance, if I click on a link to pop open a window using Javascript, it wont work.

@TrunksauthorMar 08.2005 — Well, I installed the program from windows to no avail. System restore won't work I don't believe. This was quite some time ago, I just happened to stumble upon these forums today.

@7studMar 08.2005 — Javascript is part of your browser, so I think if you reinstall your browser, it should work again. Might be a good time to install Firefox 1.0, which doesn't take long at all to download--even on a slow dialup.

(in XP)Tools > Internet Options... > Security > Custom Level... > Active Scripting > Enable

Empty the cache

Tools > Internet Options... > General > Delete Files...

Re-install IE (at your own risk!)

Start > Run > type "c:windowsinf"

locate the file called "ie.inf" (hidden file).

Right click it and select "Install"

Internet explorer core files and shell will be reinstalled.
