forcing a link to act on two frames

I am developing a page that is required to have frames. I have come to a problem, where I need a link when its clicked, to change one frame, and then also change another frame to yet another url.

EX. The a navigation link is clicked, the main content frame would change to display the new content. I am looking for a way to have another frame change its background also when this link is clicked.

I have it over complicated now, it uses split and takes the info passed in its url and uses that to change the background image. First the link is clicked, it changes main page, it triggers javascript that changes the second frames location and adds ?name.jpg onto it. Does that make sence?

Is there a simple way in html that i can change the location of one page and the background of a competly other?
