Aren't you only storing the text in the database (I suppose you get the text from a database), and not the size? You're supposed to set the size of the text in the HTML itself.
About the linebreaks, if I understand you right, you need the nl2br function for this.

If the text is larger than a paragraph then it wont be tabular data, so a table would not be a good idea.
