Server Programs

What do you think about the Abyss Web Server, easy to use and set up. What do you think about apache. What do you recomend. Abyss = Easy, Apache = Huge.

What i am asking is what is the downside and upside of them?

@PeOfEoFeb 20.2005 — What kind of box are you running? If you are on a professional windows os I would suggest IIS just because you already have it and it will run just about anything.

@JustinauthorFeb 20.2005 — I am just wondering, (and xp home). I have used both, i like abyss better, but i know apache is most commonly used, im just wondering what you all think about the two.

@PeOfEoFeb 20.2005 — I have used neither of the two, only IIS (I use asp.net). But that wouldn't be an option for you because you are on home. Well I will retire from this thread :p.

@ray326Feb 20.2005 — I would tend to recommend you go with Apache because what you learn will be more generally applicable out in the real world.

@Stephen_PhilbinFeb 20.2005 — I have to agree. The very reason I switched to Linux and installed Apache was to get experience of running both machine and software. Well... that and Windows was slow as sh**, I could never get anything done on it and I didn't trust it.

@gumbystationFeb 20.2005 — Apache as well!
