Length of <title> contents

What is the rule on how long to make the title of your site? Do search engines look at this for key words?

@the_treeFeb 04.2005 — I don't think there are any specific rules about it. Some websites use breadcrumbing for thier titles so it get's very long.

Yes most search engines take title tags into consideration.
