Dockability options

Hello all,

This is my first time to these forums. The place looks pretty good so I decided to register. I would very much appreciate any help anyone could give me here.

Basically I am trying to design a fairly simple user interface but a request has been made to have one of the windows dockable.

So far I see really one tool out there, JIDE, to do what I need.

Is it worth spending the 400 dollars for this JIDE? I do not see how I can justify this. Perhaps I should just make the window float over my main panel and do all the code to restrict it to certain areas. Thinking ahead however if I have to make more robust applications in the future would it not be worth it to save the time coding this and just get JIDE?

What do you guys think?

@ray326Jan 13.2005 — I'd look long and hard at an open source alternative. Their web site has a decidedly legalistic feel.
