getting my.com on my server ?

Hi,
I have got Apachie,mysql and php running on my pc and when it is conected to my braodband service I can log on to it my typing [url]http://[/url] and the address number like 022.345.32.111 But how do I go about getting my website.com assigned to my address number – is this dificult or expensive. i guess all those who are offering hosting do this easily – whaere can I learn about this ?

@MstrBobDec 31.2004 — #Go to a domain Registrar, like [URL=http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/default.asp]GoDaddy[/URL], buy a domain name, and then you can point it at your IP address. Simple.
