IF statement help

I am new to Java script and have some code below that I could use help with. Basically I need anything typed in without xxx3477 to send a message box back to the user. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

output.println(“if(this.document.NewTicket.username.value.substring(4,7) != ‘3477’) { alert(‘Please enter your username xxx3477.’); this.document.NewTicket.username.focus(); } else {“);
