using browser for e-book

I am considering writing a form of what might be described as an ‘e-book’ in html [with some javascript].

This means the book would run in a browser.

What I would like to be able to do is have the browser launched in a ‘vanilla’ state – that is, no history/favourites sidebar and no tool bars. All navigation would be provided within the page.

Does anyone know of any resources which would give me some pointers in this direction?
