Store info from database to JS array

I recently found out that since JS can not access MySQL database, I’m going to use PHP to query the picture file name, location, and caption etc. from the database. My question is once I got the information from the database, how do I store the information to JS array or variables so the user don’t have to re-query the database if he/she wants to display a different picture from the gallery to a full picture size?

A link to a document that shows how this can be done is much appreciated.
