recommendations for forum software

Hi

I’m look at implementing a straightforward bulletin board system for a site. Does anybody know of any good PHP-based system that has a clean XHTML front end?

@ShrineDesignsNov 20.2004 — try phpBB, i have tested vbulletin, invision board, and phpbb, and i would say that phpbb is fast, smaller, and puts a lesser load on databases than any other forum system
