I would like to stream my own Video footage, audio, and doing a webcast of a radio show. What are my options in software and hardware to get for these projects?
@MikeOSFeb 26.2003 — #Software wise you can use RealProducer (real.com) or Windows Media Encoder (microsoft.com). Both of these can stream audio and video. If I remember rightly I got both for free, although it was ages ago so I don't know if they are charging now.
Hardware is a difficult one, it depends on your budget. You can run these off your http server but it doesn't work to well, and depends largely on your visitors connections. Alternatively you can get a dedicated streaming server, but this can put a large hole in your budget.
