search engines and such… how oh how?!

hey guys, i want to be able to have my website listed in google.ca or yahoo.com or whatever if someone types in web design or e-velocity or web design sudbury, i’ve got some meta tags but still nothing in google, how do i get this to work properly so that my site shows up in google pages and any search engines ones? different keywords maybe? heres what i have now

@Alex_YurutsNov 09.2004 — Did you read anything about SEO? Find some tutorials and books, there are plenty of them online.

Some metatags are not enough if you want reach some high positions. If you want just to be listed in google or yahoo, wait until search robot will index your site (your site should appear in couple of weeks).

I would recommend your make a SEO (yourself or hire somebody), because without it you`ll never get any visitors/leads from search engines...

The bigger the number of backlinks to your site, the better your ranking.

That sums up SEO in a nutshell.... too bad you need crack open many more nuts to satisfy your appetite.

Google also has a free site submission, (hard to find but it's in there). Submit it several times.

You can also get a google tool bar for your site and ads for free. You don't have to put them on your home page either.

Submitting your site to other compilation sites will give you more traffic than search engines anyway. More traffic means more S.E. will list you.

@vlu77Dec 08.2004 — Another great place to start is by submitting your site to dmoz.org - it usually takes the editors a while to add your site, so the sooner the better.
