my ignorant will to learn and create

Thankyou for all your expert insight, I will be sure to check the reckomended websites and other well-to-do places of interest that will help me in my everlong quest to begin. Unfortunately I think I construed the wrong idea in terms of page development. The idea is to “post” a piece moving on the page comparable to an ‘X’ on a calendar, but not having to ‘X’ through each date everytime I load the page (yes, I am aware JS can do the time/date stamp as well). I hate to be so novice but the world be utopic if we already knew. No attitude intended, just a frustrated will to get some answers from the “know” guys… and gals. Thanks again for the help, hope to speak in jargon soon, elemental850.

PS. This would be for Dad and me only, sort of like an email box for two but a chess board instead, I suppose we could email moves to one another but he’s a computer pro and I’d like this to be a birthday style suprise. Patience is a virtue, blessed be the newbie.

@KorNov 08.2004 — Not very clear... but it looks like you wanna "change" information with another user by using javascript, which is not possible as javascript is a client-side language. To post/get/manipulate data you need a server-side application, such as php or pearl or java... each of them on different data-base typed interface (SQL, mySQL...) .. it depends on the server's cappabilities.
