I like having all my frequent destinations handy on one page. I’ve designed a homepage for our computers at work with this in mind. Search boxes for Yahoo, Google, Ebay, Amazon and Dictionary.com are all included, which saves time typing in addresses and waiting for pages to load.
Feel free to make it your homepage, too:

Heh. Give it a good ol' CSS layout, and change the colour scheme to something niftier, and I'm... not sold. No offense, but w007 for Firefox. Search box for all popular engines built in, "I'm feeling lucky" Google functionality by typing a phrase into the addy bar, Homepage is my gmail client, daily comics in a bookmark toolbar folder, daily blogs in another bookmark toolbar folder, and the freq. visited pages in a 3rd bookmark folder. I repeat, woot. Firefox panders to the lazy! ?
Well, I never meant it to be everything to everybody, but it works for me.
I've been playing with the colors a lot. Still not crazy about the pink/purple. This is a fairly straightforward page, and I'm a meat & potatoes page designer - I haven't learned CSS yet.
I use the google search in my Firefox browser, too. But sometimes I need more search options. And I really hate loading the front page of IMDB, Amazon, Yahoo, etc. Especially on dial-up.
I really only use bookmarks at home. When I'm at work, I divide my time between several computers. When doing design work, I might be testing on either Explorer or Mozilla. That's why I find it handy to have a common homepage.
What is "w007" and "woot"?
That's intersting, never heard that before. But wouldn't it be toot, foot, or doot?http://www.langmaker.com/db/eng_woot.htm
When hackers had achieved "root access" on a target, they would shout "root", eventually as mistyping and slang took over, this became "woot". This evolved into a yell of accomplishment.
Originally posted by MstrBob Uh, right. I think they just started W007 cuz it's fun to say. On a slightly related note, "woo" sucks. <
Just goes to show how much you know. BUt I never said it made any sense. I think that it's a bs origin, and it was just somebody thinking they were cool.
