Is it possible to make a refresh function?

Can one create a function that refreshes a page in a frame?
I do not want auto refresh, and need it to be called in an if, else statement.
Somethink like:
if {……}
else refresh();

where refresh would refresh the frame.

Or…maybe
if(….) {….}
refresh();

Or something like that.
