Label your site and aviod being filttered out

Hi,
i came across this a few year back but would like to share this information with this forum.

Did you know that if your site is not labeled by the Internation Content Rating Association then your site is automatically blocked if parental control is enabled on users PC?

Here is a quote from :

The International Content Rating Assocation
Why bother to label a site?
There are a number of compelling reasons why a web author would label his/her site with ICRA. Let’s take four examples:

Commercial sites, with little or no objectionable material will want to label their site so as not to be blocked “by default.” When a parent sets up the filter for their child, they will be offered an option to allow or disallow access to “sites that have no rating.” Most sites want the maximum number of visits to justify advertising or other related commercial activity. It would make good marketing sense for all commercial sites to be rated (labelled), whether or not they have any content that could be described as harmful.
Operators of sites designed specifically for children will want to label their sites as some search engines build their database of “child-friendly sites” by looking for ICRA labels.
The majority of operators of “adults only” sites are generally just as keen not to offend young children as the next person. Furthermore, labelling their site sends a clear signal to governments that the World Wide Web is willing and able to self-regulate, rather than have the heavy hand of government legislation decide what is or is not acceptable.
All other things being equal, a site carrying an ICRA label is more likely to be perceived as trustworthy than one which is not labelled.

@bellybytesFeb 24.2003 — Sounds pretty arrogant on their part, to me - who do they think they are anyway!?!? Well, this would only affect those using their filter, so I"m not going to worry about it. Those filters are more of a pain than they're worth. Sites like this get a whole lot of free advertising by doing this, too - before you know it they'll be demanding pay from Webmasters, too, if this type of thing takes off. It's like newsletters and anti-spammers - some places are really trying to take advantage of Webmasters by placing a price tag on getting through their software - it stinks...I better stop there or I'll get on a whole rant here!

@Robert_WellockFeb 24.2003 — Yes, I did know that and hence why the: http://www.xhtmlcoder.com/worthvalley/ is labelled.

Unfortunately the corporates will make a lot of money, although for that particular site directory, it was probably the best option because of the target audience and the legal implications.

Although the labelling with PICS can be a rather strange issue since none of the images or multimedia items there have been labelled.

@bellybytesFeb 25.2003 — You know, it really can't hurt and does protect you, and I'm even sort of debating if I shouldn't do it, but I've got nearly 700 pages on my site and they actually expect you to put this in the head of EVERY page on your site - did you do that? I mean c'mon here - EVERY PAGE???? AHHHHHH

That is strange - it applies the filter to all images with your URL - but - heck, I'm so confused I don't know how to say what I'm trying to say! ?

@Robert_WellockFeb 25.2003 — That would be hardwork I used PHP includes, although if I had more control over my Apache Server I would have configured it to do the donkey-work by giving a list of specific files, etc.

@bellybytesFeb 25.2003 — Good planning! ? I've only just started with SSI..just can't see doing that to all my pages, honestly. I don't understand why the home page wouldn't be enough...
