Accessing Restricted areas

I want to load an .shtml page from an area of a website protected by .htaccess

The username and password for access is known.

Can anybody tell me the syntax for including the username and password witghin a redir() and/or a window.open() statement please.

The reason…. I know clients navigating from the page containing this script can have access and I don’t want to force them to enter their username and password.
