noobsish question: Globals?

So im still a noob to php but in my site i have multiple pages who use a piece of code that has this variable in it. I want the user to be able to change that variable with the click of a button. Now this i have already made.

But the variable only changes for the current page which the button is on.

Is it possible that the variable value changes for all pages when the user clicks that one button?
