@NevermoreOct 15.2004 — #That's pretty much it. It's hard to start out because you aren't rated, but I've got 4 or 5 10s so I can do OK now. The biggest problem is the low-quality developers who make money by bidding $6 and ruin the whole process.

A lot of budgets are already pretty low; the developers giving even lower prices think that they can get high-quality software for a very, very low price. That really hurts. @NevermoreOct 15.2004 — #As long as you're sensible, you should be fine. The only point is that it isn't a replacement for 'regular' web-design work. As an example, my average hourly wage on Scriptlance is £10, whereas normally I would get about £22.

Then again, to be able to charge professional rates, you have to be a professional developer, and I'd be willing to bet that a pretty large number of people who visit these forums are not.
