Spaces using $_POST

I save a user entered search string in a form using
<input name=”find” type=”hidden” value=<?=$find?>>

and retrieve it when the page reloads using
if (!empty($_POST[‘find’])) $find = $_POST[‘find’];
Now when I previously used to pass the string via the URL with ?find=”whatever” it worked ok and would function correctly with two words separated with a space. Using the POST method the space and anything following is lost, so the phrase “hello world” would become just “hello”. Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong, and is there a work-around without reverting to the ?string approach ?
