phpBB without email!!??!??

Installed phpBB to free host. Find out they don’t do mail() function so that present me with a bit of problem…

I could find another free host that does allow mailing and does ask for forum post, want to stick ads everwhere, or whatever. Also, I can’t afford to pay for this to be hosted, or rather I don’t want to pay for it, it’s not that important to me.

So the question is…how easy would it be to alter the phpBB scripts to send email data to a different host (totally different server, everything, but has email functions available)?

Or does anyone know a good free (or VERY cheap) php/MySQL host that will allow all of this?

Thanks

Actually, that would be my choice to. In fact the host in question is 100webspace, but sadly they don't allow emails to go out.

I tried to open an account with 000k.com but my confirmation didn't come through. I'll try again.

...just get a domain name (come on, it's only $8.95 at godaddy) and you get 3 emails...problem solved

@zingmatterauthorOct 08.2004 — So if I buy a domain name and transfer it to www.100space.com then that'll activate it? That's probably worth it! I have a google adsense ad on it, and at the present rate of $ per month I reckon I'll get my $100 check by Christmas (2006 that is). It would kind of pay for it.

Thanks, I'll look into it.

@CyCoOct 08.2004 — You could transfer it (they might charge for a transfer)... or just sign up for a new domain and set the DNS pointers at godaddy to the nameservers that 100webspace gives you.

@zingmatterauthorOct 08.2004 — I emailed their support people and they said you needed to have paid hosting (security issues). I bought the domain name anyway (from www.123reg.co.uk as I wanted a uk tld and it cost me £6 (about $4) for 2 years).

Thanks for stimulating me to get on with the domain registration. I've been running this site for years (gets about 200 hits per day) but never got round to buying www.zingcobol.co.uk - done it now!

@neenach2002Oct 09.2004 — Oh yeah...?

I just edited the page. It has a nice layout that I've been meaning to add for weeks now...just never got around to it with everything else I'm doing...?
