@davidbrentSep 14.2004 — in a whole new web browser. do you mean opening a page from a link on a web page viewed in Internet Explorer opening the link into say, FireFox?

I am fairly sure this is not possible as you will have to use some form of complex language to open up a new program.

Best Wishes,

David

@nyghtwyngxauthorSep 14.2004 — ok, what i mean is. I have an opening page on my website which is a 3 frameset. The top frame is my main page, and is the same top frame on all the pages. then i have a products frame. Now the products frame is all links to other pages i've created, however, when i click the link, it doesnt open a new browser page, it opens up the page within that part of the frame itself. is there anyway i can get around this?

@soccer362001Sep 14.2004 — Ya, your first choice would be to get rid of the frames, your second choice would be to use something like this <a href="file.html" target="nameofframe"> its not valid but it should work.

@MstrBobSep 14.2004 — Wow, that website is.... interesting. If you want a the link to open in a new window, then you simply need to add the target attribute with a value of "_blank" to the link, like so:

<i>
</i>&lt;a href="page.html" target="_blank"&gt;Click Here&lt;/a&gt;

And I'd like to point out that the target attribute is valid under HTML 4.01 transitional and XHTML 1.0 transitional DTD's.

@nyghtwyngxauthorSep 14.2004 — for some strange reason, the target="_blank" keeps me at the same spot I am now. UGH. damn frames!

That depends on your DTD; it is valid in transitional DTDs. ?

From the W3C HTML 4 Reference

The HTML 4.01 Transitional DTD includes everything in the strict DTD plus deprecated elements and attributes (most of which concern visual presentation).
Edit: Sorry, MstrBob! I didn't completely read your reply. My mistake!
