I am thinking about building a site for myself to sell auto parts on it and promote my business. I have never really stepped out of HTML. Is HTML good enough to do this, and handle online transactions, or do I need to go to something else, like asp? Any Tutorials out there to help build an ecommerce site?

@rsdSep 14.2004 — If you want to handle online transactions then you have 2 options. First, and most expensivly, set up your own database and learn a server side language to develop your own shopping cart (php, asp, java, etc.). Second, use a third party shopping cart - some require your own database and some let you use theirs.

I set one up using PayPals shopping cart and it was very easy to integrate into my site. All I had to do was use their button-maker to create a button for each product I wanted to sell and place that button on my page.

If you already have a hosting company, check with them to see if they already have shopping cart software you can use.
