Hi, I’m attempting to implement a tree menu. I’ve had some success by hiding a node’s <div> tag and showing it when clicked, etc.
However, I am aiming to implement some animation for the tree control – when a branch is clicked, rather than ‘pop’ the child nodes into view, i’d like the rest of the tree to slide down.
I looked into clipping as potentially being a way to implement this and it certainly looks viable. However, browsers require that the position style be set to ‘absolute’ for clipping to have any effect. This means that any branches that are expanded are drawn over nodes further down the tree.
What I am asking for is some pointers to articles where this has been implemented already or some help with moving all the other nodes down the page as a branch is expanded.

The animation implemented here is exactly the sort of thing I am after, but being a .NET control, the generated code and stored .js files are very much obfuscated.
