HTML Code for IE6 and Netscape 7.2??

I’m using Office 2003 FrontPage. In IE6 my links work fine. In Netscape 7.2 most don’t work. (A few do have the link)

I didn’t have the two browers compatibilty option selected when making my websites. Any suggestions for waht to add or delete to make the code compable with both IE6 and Netscape 7.2?

Thanks,

Bob

I didn't think it was even possible to break links. It seems as though the boys over at M$ have found a way though.

Let this be a lesson, don't use FrontPage!

Seconded.

Is it possible that JavaScript is used in some way to relocate the user?

@MstrBobAug 22.2004 — Actually, if you're using CSS, and have a misplaced position:absolute element, it can invisibly cover other elements. I learned this from experience. I absolutely positioned a header, gave it a non-repeating background, and then I found that some of my links didn't work. I then discovered that the header <h1> was actually covering the links and preventing me from using them. Tis a possibility, though it'd suprise me if Frontpage is using CSS...

@David_HarrisonAug 23.2004 — I just realised, the page you are referring to is the one in your sig (with the incorrect URL). The problem seems to be this:

<span style='mso-ignore:vglayout;position:

absolute;z-index:1;left:124px;top:10px;width:748px;height:1974px'><img

width=748 height=1974 src="index_files/image001.gif" v:shapes="_x0000_s1027"></span>

It's encased in IE only code:

<![if !vml]>

<![endif]>

So real browser just ignore it and display the span tag. Since it's position absoluted (CSS :o) it seems that MstrBob was right (damn you again Bob :p).

Yet another reason not to use FrontPage, it implants IE only code.

Edit: You know, this looks like one of those totally illegal pyramid schemes that only idiots fall for.

I'll try to say it in a less negative way. The solution is to use something other than Front Page, to use a standards compliant browser as your develoment browser and validate your HTML, CSS and Javascript. When the output is valid and looks right in the standard browser then tweak it to look right in IE.

Success!
