Looking for editor program with lines?

Im wondering if there is a free program similar to notepad which shows the lines that the code is on as im learning php just now and getting errors on certain lines which is taking me ages to find them.

Any help is appreciated.

Very much like notepad, but has syntax highlighting, line counter and you can have a default document template too if ya like. It also has a sort of tabbed browsing kinda thing too. Where you can have loads of files open, but all on the same window.

@buntineAug 22.2004 — Do you have Java installed? I have written a code editor that kills Notepad. With syntax-highlighting, etc. Its written in Java, though.

@LJKAug 26.2004 — Hi -

You're probably still happy with your Notepad++ [;-)

but thought I'd kick-in for Crimson Editor and

TSW Web Coder - both of which are free and excellent.
