using a string as an object name?

OK.. I am writing a function which takes a string as a parameter.

The string is the name of a form input.

I want to be able to use this string as an object name to manipulate the form (namely the enabling and disabling of form input).

how do I write for example ‘document.formname.string.disabled = true/false;’ where string is the parameter that was passed to the function.

I want the function to be able to be used by multiple parts of the form.

I am sure it is pretty simple but can not find the answer.

Cheers

@ExuroAug 10.2004 — Try this:

document.formname[string].disabled = true;
