Change screen resolution required

how can i add a button or a link to my web page, that changes the screen resolution to 800×600?

@soccer362001Aug 09.2004 — I dont believe you can force a screen resolution change with a link or button. It is a system setting that can only be changed by the user.

@PhillMcAug 10.2004 — Resizing the browser window is the only option you have. One cannot change system settings through a web page. Just imagine the trouble we'd all have if one could.

I will say this. I'm am both a web developer and a Software Engineer, so naturally I have a system that uses more than one monitor. If I went to a site that changed my resolution without my permission, and in doing so misaligning my displays, I would have to kill someone, lol. I'm willing to bet that the average surfer would feel the same way. ?
