How do I display an image on a site if a Server on the network is available ?

Hi,

How do I display an image on a site if a Server on the network is available and a different image if the server is unavailable?

You know the Yahoo thing where an image is displayed saying “I am online now” thats the type of thing I need to do. Basically I have two PCs – One is the webserver (Internet and Intranet) and the others hosts files that are linked to from the main site and I want to display an image or message saying “Links will work” or “Links wont work” depending on the status of the other machine.

Thanks.

@khalidali63Feb 13.2003 — Well if you use any programming language ( e.g Java) you can write something to get you that info,

On the other hand there is a hack you can use with minimal JavaScript coding that will almost mimic the "ping"

here try this link
