Dreaweaver Beginner – Frames v templates

I am a new Dreamweaver user and a beginner at web design.
I want to setup a site that contains a navigation bar on the left border and heading (company name) across the top, both of which remain fixed as users go from page to page. I want to create a better site with better colors, photos, etc using dreamweaver, but want to use similar page format.

I tried to use “frames” in Dreamweaver but when I do, it appears each frame is a separate page. Should I be using Page Design templates instead, and just copying the template over and over for each new page after I create the first page?

My site will have no dynamic features….will be text mainly with simple links to pages within my site and to other websites. I want to learn how to do this so I can routinely add, modify, delete information with changing laws, etc.

Second and final question – I want the page to be easily viewed on any system. My current site takes up all of the display, and some viewers have to scroll left to right to see all text. Is this accomplished by selecting “page properties” and then setting left and right margins at 1 inch for example, which will compress the page? Thank you.

@johndoe190Aug 04.2004 — Simple start dont use frames there a search engine woe if you have ssi or php on your server use them to server side inlude each part.

Then go on to use semantic(meaningful) html or xhtml and use css to layout the page this will help your content to be viewable on any system.

Hope this helps you.
