Learning Javascript – Good books.

I’m going to learn some javascript to use in my PHP applications and websites.

What books would you recommend?

I have already ordered a book from Amazon (See here). I chose it because the reviews were good, the description was good, and the book was released recently.
Have I made a good choice?

Thank you! ?

Also, do you have a website, or two, that you visit whenever you want to look up some javascript?

@nshiellJul 21.2004 — JavaScript isn't that hard to learn.

One other way of learning the language is by seeing how other peoples code works.

goto http://javascript.internet.com and insert some of their codes and see what the syntax is and what the basic functions are ant ideas on how to use them.

Worked for me, just a thought.?

I understand that, and, from what I've seen, Javascript has similarities with PHP.

I don't want to learn from poor programming, so I believe reading a book on the subject is best. Also, that means I shouldn't miss something important.

@fredmvJul 21.2004 — The book you got looks reasonably good; I like Wrox. However, the essential book you need to pick up is David Flanagan's JavaScript: The Definitive Guide.

I'm glad. Would you say that Flanagan's book is still fine even though it was released 3 years ago?
