CSS Grid Layout question.

Everyday is a learning experience.

In creating a grid based content area where there was a single grid cell. I found that I didn’t have to include the CSS directives: **grid-template-columns: grid-template-rows:** or **grid-template-areas:** . I was seeking to have a situation where different attached input could be overlaid over each other, which I succeeded in doing.

It would seem that the directives mentioned above are implicit so long as you only have a single cell and you use the directives **grid-column: 1;** and **grid-row: 1;** with the items you want to include.

**Is this the case?**
_I want to make sure before I get too far along and have troubles later for excluding something that I should have included._
