When and where to use Singleton Classes

I’m still learning JavaScript but making steady progress.

Through my searching around on the web learning how to use things I came into the belief that a singleton class could be used in client side programming to pass application state between web pages and ultimately the JavaScripts associated with those pages. Now I’m not so sure.

If it is possible to use singleton classes in client side programming, what is the proper way to do this?

I have considered the possibility that singleton classes are a Node.js feature only.
